Debt Collection & Compliance · AI Tool
Mizan — Compliant Debt-Collection Network
Compliant collection, while preserving the human touch.
One platform that brings creditor, collection agency and debtor together, from an outstanding invoice to a fitting, legally vetted solution. The law sits upstream in every step, intelligent analysis helps along the way, and the human decides.

Act I · The problem you recognise
Debt collection is human work under pressure
An outstanding bill has to be collected, but within the law, and without needlessly damaging the relationship with the customer. In practice that often happens with disconnected systems, spreadsheets and manual work. It takes time, it is error-prone, and the person behind the debt easily slips out of view. A single misstep can render an entire claim unlawful.
Why disconnected tools and old approaches fall short
Disconnected systems do not talk to each other, so no one sees the whole picture. Compliance sits after the fact, in checks and reports, instead of upstream in every action. Intelligent analysis is missing, or is a black box no one can explain. And the three parties work past one another, even though they share the same interest: getting the bill resolved.
Mizan brings it together in one platform, with the law built into every step.
Act II · What is Mizan
One compliant debt-collection network, from invoice to solution
Mizan is one platform on which an outstanding claim travels its whole journey: from reminder and payment plan to, where it must, the judicial route, and where it is better, a humane pause. Creditor, collection agency and debtor work in the same environment, with shared, intelligent analysis and with the law built into every step. Regulators, municipalities and debt-counselling services can build on transparent, auditable case files.
What it gives you: faster, cleaner collection, less risk, and regard for the human touch.
The common thread: the platform does not decide
Mizan calculates, flags and proposes. A human always keeps control over the steps that truly matter. What Mizan deliberately is not: no blacklist and no shadow register, never postcode, neighbourhood, origin, gender or age as a predictor, no machine that decides for itself, and no revenue model on the back of the debtor. What the debtor pays remains exactly the statutory scale.
A fixed place for every function
On the left is the menu, ordered into logical groups: the Workbench (the overview, your case files and KAM), Intelligence & Compliance (the intelligent and legal modules), Oversight (the auditable case files) and Settings. This way you find every function in a fixed, predictable place, and never have to search.
What it gives you: an environment you understand at once, from day one.

The law always in view
At the top you switch between organisations, search a case file, debtor or claim in an instant, and see on the left a continuous compliance indicator showing whether everything is within the law. On the right you find the theme, your notifications and your account. Compliance runs visibly alongside you, not as a check after the fact.
What it gives you: certainty that you are working within the lines, at every moment.

Act III · KAM, the beating heart
KAM: your knowledge and analysis assistant
KAM stands for Knowledge and Analysis Module. It is the platform's assistant: a place where you can ask questions in plain language about your case files, about debt-collection law and about how Mizan works, down to button level. KAM understands your own situation and the platform itself, and in doing so looks only within your own organisation. KAM works with your own language-model key; as long as that is not yet connected, the system is honest about it and invents nothing.
What it gives you: an answer grounded in your own data, not in guesswork.
Four entry points, one assistant
KAM brings together the chat, a training module in which you add your own knowledge, a memory you manage and the network. Your own guidelines and working methods teach KAM to know your practice, and if the memory is still empty, KAM says so honestly instead of inventing an answer.
KAM from the inside
Three tools that together form the assistant: a chat grounded in your own data, a training module in which your knowledge forms the basis, and a memory you can export and import. Swipe through them, or tap a part.

Act IV · The workbench: your case files
All your cases, in one overview
The case list brings all your cases together. You filter in an instant by phase (new, amicable, arrangement, judicial, enforcement or paid), search by debtor or reference, and see on each row the status, the risk, the payment likelihood and the outstanding amount. One click on a row opens the full case file.
What it gives you: seeing at once which case file needs attention, without searching.

Adding a case file, one by one or in bulk
You add a new case file manually, with reference, amount, debtor and due date, or you import an entire debtor list in one go via a CSV file. This way a single claim or a complete portfolio is ready in seconds.
What it gives you: from a single invoice to an entire debtor list, entered effortlessly.

A case file from the inside
Open a case file and you land on a workbench with tabs. Each tab tells part of the story of that one claim: from the overview with the explainable payment score to the cost engine, the communication, the judicial route and the immutable timeline. Swipe through the tabs below, or tap one. These are real screens; the data in them is fictitious.

Act V · Mizan in practice
From an outstanding invoice to a feasible arrangement
Suppose a bill has been outstanding too long. On the overview the case file stands out as "attention needed", with a payment likelihood and a risk label. You open the case file. Mizan shows the finances, an explainable payment score and a recommended next step that fits the situation. At a low payment likelihood that is, for example, personal contact with a feasible arrangement, because that usually yields the most at the least harm. Every proposed letter is vetted in advance for plain language and for the law. You decide; Mizan carries it out neatly.
The journey of a claim, step by step
1. The recommended next step looks ahead
The recommended next step looks ahead to what yields the most in the long term, within the legal limits. At a low payment likelihood that is often personal contact with a feasible arrangement, because that usually yields the most at the least harm. Mizan proposes and never decides on its own.

2. Pausing humanely on problem debt
Not every debt should be pushed through. Where Mizan recognises signs that someone is willing but unable, for instance when repayment is clearly out of proportion to what someone can bear, the platform offers the humane route: debt respite. It pauses collection, preserves the claim in full, and opens the warm handover to the municipality or debt counselling. The de-escalation co-pilot may only calm, inform, slow down and refer, and can technically never escalate.

3. Looking ahead and simulating before you act
Before you release a strategy on your whole portfolio, you can first run the numbers. What does a softer or a stricter approach yield, and what does it cost in damaged relationships? You can also simply ask your portfolio a question in plain language. The simulation is entirely read-only: not a single case file is changed.
What it gives you: seeing the consequences before you act, without risk.

Act VI · Responsible, secure and auditable
Trust is not a promise, but something you can verify
Mizan's intelligent functions calculate, flag and propose. They do not decide. Far-reaching steps remain human work, and every model is explainable: you see the reasoning, not a black box. Sensitive characteristics are never used as a predictor, and the system itself measures whether groups are treated fairly. Where a function is still waiting for an external approval or a connection, Mizan says so, instead of showing a false "green".
The compliance core enforces the law upstream
The fee scale, a plain-language test and the beslagvrije voet sit as a gate in every action. Not as a check after the fact, but as a precondition: an action that would breach the law simply cannot be taken.
What it gives you: unlawful steps are made impossible, not repaired after the fact.

EU AI Act: transparency and oversight as a designed core
For the EU AI Act, Mizan delivers a sealed dossier per function on the core articles. The promise is always the same: Mizan calculates and proposes, the human decides.
| Art. 13 · Transparency | Every automated step is explained in plain language, with the source alongside, so that you and the debtor see how an assessment came about. |
| Art. 14 · Human oversight | Mizan calculates and proposes; the human decides and signs. Self-driving runs through the same legal gates as a member of staff and always stops when in doubt. |
| Art. 10 · Data quality & governance | Data minimisation, strict separation per organisation and encrypted storage of personal data. |
| Art. 15 · Accuracy & robustness | Models show their uncertainty and abstain when there is too little evidence. False-green prohibition: "compliant" is never true if a source is missing or a safeguard has been breached. |
| Fairness & non-discrimination | Sensitive characteristics are never used as a predictor, and the system itself measures whether groups are treated fairly. No blacklist. |
| Audit & traceability | A sealed, signed audit trail, independently verifiable with only the public key. |
A sealed dossier per function
For the EU AI Act, Mizan delivers a sealed dossier per function on the core articles, with a prohibition on false "green". This way, for every intelligent function it is set out in black and white which article is engaged, how it is met, and where the limit lies.
What it gives you: compliance you can read off, not compliance you have to take on trust.

Auditable oversight, at one button
At one button, Mizan creates a complete, time-stamped quality dossier, including an honesty audit that simply names a problem instead of hiding it. And for the EU AI Act it delivers a sealed dossier per function on the core articles.
What it gives you: accountability that is ready and waiting, not accountability you have to reconstruct after the fact.

You do not have to take Mizan at its word
The oversight cockpit is independently verifiable: each block carries a signature you can recompute yourself in the browser, with only the public key. If the signature checks out, the content is demonstrably unchanged since signing. Sealed and traceable, verifiable instead of merely promised.

The network effect

Compliance, money & platform

Who is Mizan for?
Creditors who want their invoices paid promptly and cleanly, while preserving the customer relationship. Collection agencies and bailiffs who want to work efficiently and demonstrably by the rules. Debtors, who receive clear, fair treatment and a feasible path to a solution. And regulators, municipalities and debt-counselling services, who can build on transparent, auditable case files.
Frequently asked questions
Does Mizan decide about people itself?
No. Mizan calculates, flags and proposes; the human decides. Far-reaching steps remain human work. Autonomous handling (self-driving) runs through exactly the same legal gates as a member of staff, has no shortcut, and always stops when in doubt.
How does everything stay within the law?
The law sits upstream as a gate in every action: the degressive fee scale, the mandatory veertiendagenbrief for consumers and the beslagvrije voet are enforced before a step can be taken. Booking costs is possible only through the compliance gate. An action that would breach the law simply cannot happen.
What happens with vulnerable debtors?
If Mizan recognises signs that someone is willing but unable, it offers the humane route: debt respite. It pauses collection, preserves the claim in full, and opens the warm handover to the municipality or debt counselling. The de-escalation co-pilot may only calm, inform, slow down and refer, and can technically never escalate.
Is the AI a black box?
No. Every model is explainable, with the source alongside. Mizan never uses postcode, neighbourhood, origin, gender or age as a predictor, and keeps no blacklist. Where a model is still insufficiently substantiated, the system shows that itself, instead of showing a false "green".
Can we verify the oversight?
Yes. At one button Mizan creates a complete, time-stamped quality dossier, and a sealed EU AI Act dossier per function. Each block carries a signature you can recompute yourself in the browser, with only the public key. If the signature checks out, the content is demonstrably unchanged.
What does it cost the debtor?
Exactly the statutory scale, no more. Mizan's revenue model never touches the debtor; it runs through the billing and subscription on the client's side.
Ready to collect compliantly, while preserving the human touch?
Mizan is not a promise for the future. It is a working platform that carries an outstanding claim along the law to a fitting solution, with you at the helm. We would be glad to show it to you for real, with your own practice as the starting point: a personal demonstration, an exploration of how it fits your current way of working, and a conversation about a careful, phased rollout.
